Q&A

  • As part of the booking process, we will send you the Property Information. It is important that you read the Property Information and any additional notes from the Owner before your visit to the Cottage so that you know what to expect before you arrive.

Once we have received the final payment, we will send you an email with directions and a door code to access the cottage for the duration of your stay. This is typically done 2-weeks before your vacation or when final payment is provided.

For advanced bookings, as your vacation comes near, we will check in to see if you have any questions and remind you of due dates for payment of your balance.

You can contact us anytime if you have questions.

  • Unless otherwise stated, for weekly bookings the Arrival/Check-in time is Sunday at 4pm and the Departure/Check out time is the following Sunday by 11am.

Off-Season bookings that are less than one week in duration, we will let you know the check-in and check out times as they sometimes vary.

  • Included in your stay is an access pass to Sun Beach, a private beach for Southcott Pines residents and their guests. The pass MUST be presented before entry is permitted by Security. This includes if visiting SPPA Sun Beach by foot, car or bike. Only 1 vehicle per household is permitted to park in the Sun Beach parking lot at any given time.

If you are heading to the beach in multiple groups, please inform the security guards. They will document the names of the remaining guests in your party and allow them to enter upon arrival.

NOTE: Power or sail boats, kayaks, canoes, paddle boards/boats etc. are not allowed inside the swim buoys at Sun Beach. There are separate entry points located adjacent to Sun Beach where you can enjoy these activities.

  • Please treat our house with the same respect as you would your own home. We’ve put a lot of effort into making this into a lovely space to be enjoyed by our guests.

In case of any accidental damage, we’ll investigate the issue internally to decide if and how much the deduction or repair cost will be. The cost of any repairs will be deducted from your security deposit and the difference will be returned at the end of your stay.

Smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the property. Discovering guests have been smoking inside the property will result in loss of the security deposit.

  • Our cottage operates on a septic system. The basic rule is DO NOT PUT ANYTHING down the toilet other than natural waste and toilet paper (and be conservative with the paper). Please do not flush any sanitary products down the toilet.

We provide a bin for paper waste, feminine hygiene products, hair, etc. in each bathroom.

  • The driveway can accommodate parking for roughly 4-5 vehicles. Parking at Sun Beach requires a SPPA Beach Pass. To ensure there is enough parking for those with small children or limited mobility, only ONE vehicle per home in the parking lot is permitted.

Shoreline Drive is posted for NO PARKING and enforceable by law. Parking on all other streets is permitted per Lambton Shores By-Law, providing all four tires are off the pavement.

  • We reserve the right to cancel a Rental Agreement at any time, at which point all payments will be refunded. This may occur if COVID-19 protocols in Ontario change, or the property is unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances including maintenance events, fire or Acts of Nature.

    If you need to cancel your booking, please inform us right away. If cancellation is requested;
    • up to 30 days prior to booking, full refund of payments
    • between 29 and 15 days prior to booking, 50% of security deposit will be retained.
    • between 14 and 1 days prior to booking, 100% of security deposit will be retained.

  • At the end of your stay, the cottage is to be left tidy. A list to ensure the cottage is left tidy will be provided

    • Place all dirty dishes in the dishwasher and turn ON
    • Take, or dispose of all leftover food items from fridge and kitchen
    • Place all garbage and recyclables in the appropriate containers located at the side of the car port; Blue lid: for recyclables, Black lid: for garbage waste
    • Leave the Cottage in a neat and tidy condition
    • Please remember to take all your personal items with you when you leave. While we will make every effort to try and help return any items left behind, we cannot take responsibility for any lost items nor shipping items back to you.
    • Relock the front door upon exit
    • We appreciate your understanding and cooperation, thank you!

Be sure to maintain a good level of cleanliness throughout your stay, this will make it much easier when check-out time comes!
